Paul Cézanne was a French artist whose work was particularly effective in the post-impressionist period. His paintings prepared the transition from the daring art of the late 19th century to a radical new beginning in the 20th century. From an art historical point of view, Paul Cézanne (1839 - 1906) is one of the pioneers of classical modernism.
