Auguste Renoir was born in Limoges in 1841 and began his artistic career as a porcelain painter. In Paris he made friends with the impressionists around Claude Monet. Flowers, children and young women become Renoir's († 1919) favorite motifs. Full of light and grace, his works are an immortal hymn to beauty and joie de vivre.
