Joanna Maitland-Hudson was born in Gloucester in 1977 and now lives in South-East London. She runs her studio in the well-known Gipsy Hill workshops. Influenced by her training as an interior designer, she concentrates on large, representative individual pieces that fit into both modern and classic living concepts. The unusual combination of photo-realistic and graphic elements is typical of her oil paintings. Joanna's special love is bird life, tropical butterflies and above all Asian art. This influences most of her works in terms of composition, theme and the lavish use of gold leaf.
