The Valencia-born artist understood like no other of his time how to capture the light of the south in color. His sun-drenched pictures deeply impressed even contemporaries like Claude Monet. In addition to the Spanish landscape and beach scenes, sensitive portraits are recurring motifs. Surprisingly, his work is largely unknown in Germany. So it is high time to discover this "Master of Light" for us.
