The New York painter and glass artist Louis Comfort Tiffany is considered the most important representative of American Art Nouveau. As the son of the jeweler Charles Lewis Tiffany, the owner of Tiffany & Co, he became known for his imaginative jewelry creations and the production of iridescent glasses. In 1885 he opened his own company, which a little later became known as "Tiffany Studios". There Tiffany produced special decorated flat glasses and created many mosaics and windows. The Tiffany lamps, whose shades are largely made of colored, copper-framed pieces of glass that are soldered together, are particularly valued to this day. This technique made Tiffany and his glass creations world famous.
